Your money doesn't get stuck.

If a check doesn't land, you get the full check amount back. If it's our fault or the post office's, you get every penny back, fees included.

Every way a check can go sideways.

What happens if…

  1. Payment fails

Nothing was taken. The check is marked failed. Nothing is printed.

  2. Canceled before printing

Everything, fees included.Any open checkout is closed. A paid check that hasn't printed is pulled from the print queue.

  3. Print-and-mail provider rejects the check

Everything, fees included. The check is marked failed and refunded automatically.

  4. Returned to sender

Check amount, or one free reissue. Everything if the post office got it wrong. We void the check with the bank right away and ask the sender: reissue it (to a corrected address) or refund. If they don't choose within 14 days, we refund.

  5. Re-routed by USPS

Not needed.Nothing to do. Tracking continues and the event is on the check's record.

  6. Lost in the mail

Everything, fees included, or a free reissue. We tell the sender and offer a free reissue or a full refund. If they don't choose within 14 days, we void it and refund everything.

  7. Payee says it never arrived, or it arrived damaged

A free reissue, or everything back if the sender prefers. We tell the sender. Unless they say otherwise within 5 days, we void the original and mail a free replacement to the same address. A different address always needs the sender's approval.

  8. Never cashed

The check amount. Fees are kept (the check was printed, mailed and delivered). We remind the sender at 30 and 60 days. At 90 days we void it with the bank and refund the check amount automatically.

  9. Sender stops a mailed check

The check amount. We void it with the bank. Once the bank confirms, we refund. If it was already cashed, it can't be stopped.

  10. Wrong name on the check

A free reissue, or the check amount. We ask the sender to approve a reissue with the corrected name, or refund. A name change always needs the sender's approval.

  11. Paid, but the payee says they didn't deposit it

Everything, once the claim is filed. We absorb what the bank doesn't recover. Our team reviews the paid item with the bank and files a fraud claim. Reissues are held until the claim is filed.

  12. Sender says the payee wasn't paid

Not needed if it was paid; otherwise as S07.If the bank paid the check, we send proof of payment (the date and amount it cleared). If not, it's handled as a check that never arrived (S07).

  13. Sender disputes the payment

The dispute itself returns the money. The account is paused. If the check hasn't been cashed, we void it and accept the dispute. If it was cashed, we send the bank our evidence: the person's confirmation and approval, the mailing record and the paid check.

  14. Payee reports fraud

The check amount once reviewed, unless the review finds fraud. We pause the sender's account and void the check if it hasn't been cashed. Our team reviews it.

  15. Altered check

Everything; any loss is ours.Flagged for review immediately. With positive pay the bank refuses it.

  16. Checks account running low

Not needed; nothing is lost, only delayed. The check waits in processing (it's retried every few minutes) and ops is alerted. A check never bounces.

  17. A refund fails

The same amount, paid another way.Retried daily 3 times, then our team pays it another way. If we can't reach the person, the money is held as unclaimed property and reported to their state, as the law requires.

The part people skip. Don't.

The fine print

  1. Checks are drawn on JustSendTheCheck's account and are void 90 days after they're mailed.
  2. If a check isn't cashed by then, we void it and refund the check amount. The service fee is kept, since the check was printed and mailed.
  3. If a check is lost, damaged or misprinted, or anything else goes wrong on our side or the post office's, we refund everything, fees included, or reissue it free.
  4. If a check comes back because the address you confirmed was wrong, you get the check amount back or one free reissue to the right address.
  5. You can stop a mailed check that hasn't been cashed: we void it with the bank, then refund the check amount. Nothing is refunded or reissued until the bank confirms the void, so a check can never be paid twice.
  6. Refunds go back to the card or bank account you paid with. Payees can get help with any check at justsendthecheck.com/help using the code printed on it.
